[Video] I Have Some Disturbing Personal News :(

Hey everyone!

Before we get to the article, earlier this week was my birthday, I went out and I hadn’t left the house for more than 20 minutes when a guy asked me for my number hehe! πŸ˜›

I have some disturbing personal news, something that I have been resisting sharing but it’s become serious now. Please see the video below: (btw the picture at the top of this post is just stock photo and not the person I’m talking about but the camera looks similar)

Here is video of a man who walked up to the opposite bank of the stream opposite my house and started to set up his camera right outside my house, when I saw him and we looked face to face, eye to eye, he then started walking away and then started taking pictures somewhere else of the stream. He looks like a man who one time was walking his dog and stood opposite my house watching me through my window, I ducked and then I looked up again and he was still there watching me, he didn’t leave for ages. I’m sure this is the same man. It was after that incident of the first man that the men with cameras started to appear. The man has a camera with a large telephoto lens over his right shoulder:

This is a video of another man who walks around with a camera in my local area and walks around in the nature park opposite my house. He claims that there is a lot of things to photograph in that area, yes there are woods but the two men appeared at the same time, after there was a man who watched me when he was walking his dog. He goes around with his camera practically every afternoon, I know that area, there isn’t years worth of photographic material there. I’m pretty sure he’s up to no good and why does he keep walking past my house, there is a more direct way to get to the nature park, the main entrance is a couple hundred meters away from my house. Only people who live in my estate use the entrance that is near my house because that is for the residents of the estate. It’s a small estate I am aware of many of the residents:

Now I cannot say for sure that the person who photographed me was one of them but I’ve just decided that I need to say something and put these online.

All of you need to stop it. Now.

I’ve Decided To Put On A Tiny Bit Of Weight #health #bodyimage #Jesus

Helloooo!

Firstly, if you missed my post last week you missed something special! I blogged about God’s plan for the “humble” and less pretty parts of our bodies: http://wp.me/p3VMqU-1JV

Don’t forget to subscribe for more of this stuff! Now to this weeks post…

I just wanted to say that I’ve decided to put on a bit of weight, a couple of pounds (I had the space lol) and here’s the reasons why:

  1. I don’t believe in being skinny. I believe in being the correct size for your frame. There is a healthy coverage of fat that we all should have and I felt like I had less than that. With the added weight my BMI is now 19.
  2. I’m already naturally quite slim and I feel like I just didn’t have anything to hold, now my legs are more curvy and there’s just more to me in general, it’s not fatness it’s just a healthy youthful plumpness lol. I still look the same, just filled out a tiny bit more.
  3. I feel like all the exercise I was doing plus the few pounds I’ve put on actually compliment each other because the extra chubbiness is toned, I think it looks nicer.
  4. However, the most important reason why I have decided to allow myself to gain a few pounds has to do with me just accepting myself for who I am, who Jesus made me and what my frame/body shape looks like. I just needed to fill out my frame a little bit more to be healthy.

I hope this post has helped somebody out there

Gotta have something to hold right? πŸ˜‰

Love Catherine x

#supermoon #telescope #hobbies #stars #clouds #cold #photography #Jesus

Hey Guys!,

Apart from music, another one of my hobbies is Astronomy and I’ve had a telescope since I was young. It lives at the top floor of my house, sometimes if I hear on the news that there is something particularly interesting to see in the sky I’ll whip it out. Sometimes, I just like to take my telescope out and just look at the stars or the planets because I find it cathartic. So on the 14/11/16 there was a Super Moon! I was really excited sooo I decided to get my telescope out and take a look hehe!

What is a Supermoon? Well according to timeanddate.com which has some really interesting information about it (see the Bibliography at the bottom):

“A Supermoon happens when a Full Moon or New Moon coincides with the Moon’s closest approach to Earth; also called perigee.” (timeanddate.com 2016)

I couldn’t see anything for ages! So I decided to go downstairs and watch some TV lol. Then I promptly forgot about the Supermoon, till I went to brush my teeth and go to bed, then Jesus reminded me.

By the time the Supermoon arrived I was a little tired, it was cold outside and my commitment was waning. However, Jesus gave me the idea of propping the telescope on the stairs of the top floor of my house. That way I could see the Supermoon and not get cold!

I was really panicking whilst propping up the telescope because I realised that as the moon was so close it appeared to pass quicker, meaning I had to swiftly get it in sight before it moved over the house and out of view. I didn’t even have my glasses on (I couldn’t remember where I put them lol) and I was panicking further as I wasn’t sure if I had focussed the image properly to take a picture! It was quite funny actually lol.

Eventually I got to a cosy position on the stairs and I invited Jesus to come and look at the supermoon with me and I really felt the peace of God during that time πŸ™‚

The peace that I felt and the fact that Jesus reminded me that I wanted to see the Supermoon has reinforced what I’ve always thought, which is that it’s really great to involve Jesus in ones hobbies and spend time with Jesus doing ordinary everyday things outside of praying, reading the Bible and going to church. Jesus is interested in every part of our lives and I feel like He enjoys participating in the simple fun things, as well as the big projects in our lives.

I don’t really know how to take photos from a telescope and I didn’t have an adapter to steady the camera but I did the best I could!

Hey Guys! πŸ˜€

So, my family decided that it would be nice to for my Grandmother to go out to visit her at her house in Barbados for her 80th birthday as a surprise! Yes she was surprised, (apparently she kept on wondering why my Aunt was getting extra beds for her house but she is so gentle she didn’t really make much of a fuss about it lol).

Here was the view driving from Grantley Adams Airport:

Accommodation

We stayed in a villa for part of the trip, I had my own room with my own ensuite!

Food

Now, Barbados has it’s own chain of fast food restaurants similar to KFC, it’s called Chefette, I totally love it I made sure I went as often as I could badger someone to drive me there… lol

This was a self catering holiday, even when we were in the villa. We enjoyed the fresh produce that is available there, each day we started with fresh cassava bread, fruit and vegetables and eventually some Rainbow Cake as well lol! We even stumbled across some Turkey Bacon which we all looooovvveeeeed! (see below lol)

We went to Oystins! That’s the really big fish market that happens on Friday’s in the south of the island. It’s basically a big public fish BBQ, we had a fish called Dolphin, like I did the last time I went to Barbados πŸ˜› and it was just as good as I remember it! πŸ˜€

Something that I noticed in the supermarkets in Barbados was that they had these industrial sized tubs of ice cream in the freezers I’m not sure what that was about lol -_-

This was Dover beach (above), this beach had very calm waters, sadly due to global warming, the beaches in Barbados no longer have as much sand on them as they did in my childhood in the 90’s (below).

One of the great attractions of Barbados is Harrison’s Cave. This is a very interesting geological attraction because Barbados is actually made of mostly sedimentary rocks like coral, sandstone and limestone. It’s not volcanic like the other islands. Due to tectonic movement one day a massive coral reef that was once on he ocean floor was pushed to the surface, making the island of Barbados. As this happened over several years, the sea water created many caves, one of which is Harrison’s Cave.

You can do a walking tour of the cave or a tram tour. I’ve done both and I can recommend the tram tour it’s much more exciting!

Glassbottom Boat Tours

Another fun thing to do in Barbados is the Glassbottom Boat Tours, this is basically a boat that has some glass on the bottom so you can see the ocean floor and turtles!

Something else I recommend is the Island Safari. It’s basically a car with no sides that takes you on a tour of the island, it’s great fun we went through all but one of the parishes and we saw some great sights!

St Nicholas Abbey

We also visited a former colonial plantation that has been refurbished and is now open to the public.

They still have a few lists of the enslaved peoples who were on the property.

The original toilets still work and are used by the public!

I tried to see what it would look like if my face was in one of the portraits on the wall lol.

I made a friend πŸ™‚

It ate my food lol

In all I had a good time and I now have a nice new profile picture πŸ™‚

Pan Flute!

Hey Lovely!,

So another instrument I own but don’t play regularly is the Pan Flute! I got it as a Christmas present from one of my flatmates in Student halls, how thoughtful!

Sooo! I decided to take a picture of it and thought to myself

“Hmm! it looks like it could be some kind of artifact? How about I edit the photo to make it look like it’s a centuries old photo, that has been taken by a famous anthropologist and has now been placed in a, (fictional…lol), museum exhibition on folk instruments from around the world!”

To achieve this look I did the following things to this photo:

Aperture

  • For a start I took it with quite a bright exposure in a very sunny room against a white background, the light came from the right to the left (I flipped the picture which is why the shadows don’t fall as you would expect them to) – This was handy in making it look like someone had just taken this picture in the field, for archival purposes and not in a studio
  • Changed the White Balance to the more yellow end of the spectrum – the original picture was taken with a light blue tint/hue (my favourite colour is blue!)
  • Upped the exposure, recovery, black point (to get those lovely dark lines and grains to pop!) and increased the brightness again – this was because I was trying to simulate old fashioned cameras and lomo film
  • I then increased the contrast a lot – again to simulate old film and how the picture/paper might have aged. I also upped the saturation and vibrancy a little, just to bright out the different shades of brown in the wood.
  • I brought out the shadows a tiny bit and increased the mid contrast – again I wanted to bring out the different grains in the wood and highlight the lines and even the cracks in the pipes to make the most of the lovely textures! As well as make the instrument look old!
  • I also put a vignette on the picture – again this makes a picture look older and simulates an old fashioned camera.
  • There is also a lot of noise reduction in this picture – I wanted it to look old but not too old but old enough… lol
  • Finally, I had to make the picture sepia tone – nothing says oldness like sepia tone!

Fotor

  • I then added a few lomo filters with varying levels of intensity – again to make the picture look old!
  • Following that I added simulated lens flare – to simulate the cool effect of light leaking into a retro camera that uses film and how interesting that would look developed on film instead of using a DSLR
  • To finish off the old fashioned look I added a tiny bit of tilt shift – I did this because I noticed in old photos that often around the edges its blurry and I wanted to recreate that!

Let me know what you think of it? Also, CLICK HERE to have a look at the other photos in my gallery as well.

Pictures!

Hey I have added quite a bit of music now I shall add some pictures from a walk I did today. I took quite a few pictures but I only liked two…lol

You will notice a theme in my pictures. I really like paths… I guess its metaphorical of journeys.

I also like freedom. So in every photo I take there is always be an area that is not limited and goes off into the horizon of an unknown destiny. E.g. in the black and white photo there is a bit of exposed sky to escape into.

Enjoy! πŸ™‚

I have a lovely filter on my phone which removes all the colours except a select few (in this case the yellow-red colours). In Aperture I later increased the saturation of yellow. It was very lovely to have some leaves on the ground as well, I just feel that it brightens up the photo nicely.

Hello World :)

My first post ever to showcase my work!

I love all the arts and I am primarily a composer of Christian Contemporary Orchestral Music but expect Sketches, Poetry and Photography as well!

So Watch This Space!…

For now I enclose a taster of what is to come, a photo (taken on my phone of course lol and edited in Aperture). I like to call this picture ‘Adam and Eve’ – This post is about new beginnings after all!
